A Message From Our Pastor

COVID-19 Call to Action Plan

Grace & Peace

Elpis Christian Fellowship!

As we are all aware, the world has encountered this epidemic, this opposition known as the “Corona Virus Disease 2019” (COVID-19).  It’s my hearts greatest concern that we don’t…the Body of Christ panic and operate in fear.  I’m reminded of the words from the Prophet Isaiah “I say to those with fearful hearts, be strong, do not fear; for your God will come with vengeance, with divine retribution; He will come to save you” (Isaiah 35:4).  For God did not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

In our efforts to ensure your health and safety, we will comply with State and Local Government.  As of now our local government is asking groups under 250 to only meet, then CDC is suggesting 50, and now today, The President of these United States is asking only 10 people to meet.  It’s just been reported that an Urbandale School teacher has contracted the virus, so it’s hitting close to home.  To stay proactive, myself, The Elders and Deacons have come up with a plan to keep us connected.

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th, I will be on Facebook sharing Biblical Empowerment starting at 6:30pm.  On Sunday, we will live stream on Facebook, beginning at 12noon with Corporate Prayer.  This means ministry staff will be present at the church, so instead of gathering in person, we encourage everyone to worship privately and tune in on Facebook at 12noon Sunday and join us in worship from the comforts of your living rooms.  All other ministries, meetings and rehearsals will cease for the remainder of March, or until further notice.

Stewardship Matters

Please remember that our stewardship still matters, as we must support our ongoing obligations.  To help facilitate this ask, you can choose one of the following:

  • Givelify

  • CashApp $ElpisProjectDynasty

  • Drop off at the church on Saturday’s from 9am to 11am, while we’re continually disinfect the church; or on Sunday’s at 12noon to 1pm, and someone will be present at the front door to receive.

  • Or Mail to 555 E. Euclid, Des Moines, Iowa 50313

Elpis, I’m praying we remain faithful in our giving.

Wisdom & Discernment

We will use wisdom and discernment in this season, not fear!  We will continue to follow the recommendations of the CDC, and State and Local Government until further notice.  Please be diligent in the following:

  • Continuously wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  If soap and water are not readily available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

  •  Avoid touching your face, especially eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands

  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.  Cough into tissue or the bend of your arm; not in your hands.

  • We’re an affectionate family, so even the ministerial staff asked to serve on Sundays, we’ll utilize wisdom and avoid handshakes, fist-bumps, hugging and kissing on cheeks.  I promise not to tell you to do anything with “your neighbor” (smile)

  • While you’re in public settings anywhere, practice social distancing.

  • In your homes, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily (i.e. tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desk, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sink).

  • And please, if you are experiencing any signs of sickness, please stay home.

Spread the Word

Know that during this time, we are taking precautionary measures at the church by disinfecting ALL areas.  We will continue to monitor reports from CDC and keep you informed.  Please check the church Facebook page or website for further information.  Everybody is not on social media, so I’m asking all WhoVille Residents to reach out to one another and spread the word.  If we have any families struggling or challenged during this time, we need to hear about it.  PLEASE ELPIS…contact me, The Elders or Deacons.  DO NOT PUT NEEDS REQUEST ON FACEBOOK or INSTANT MESSENGER or any other social media medium.  If you would like a Bible Study Sheet sent to you, you can inbox me or text me your email address, and I’ll be glad to send.

Please, don’t get too consumed with every news report, or social media reporting.  To stay informed, please go to:

As we continue to pray, please remember Elpis that “God is in control”!  Hold fast and tight to His promises.  He says “Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God.  I will help you and uphold you with My right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).  Read Psalm 91 and He will keep you in perfect peace.

Believing and trust God the more in this season!   Elpis notice I used the word “season”, which means…” we’re coming out of it”!  Therefore, I declare and decree…OVERRULLED!

Elpis Christian Fellowship was established on November 15, 2005, birthed out of a social ministry that focused on a holistic approach of “restoring hope to transform lives” by meeting and addressing needs physically, mentally, financially, socially, and spiritually.

Tuesdays @ 6:30 pm

"From a single, homeless, and broken woman who has not yet found the purpose of my birth....To a Woman married to God, crafted, in a place to call my home, is the hope I have from just two Sunday services at Elpis Christian Fellowship. I am like a bottle in the smoke, that I may endure his statues and receive the life that only He, my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has for his daughter, Lindsay Elizabeth. I can't put in one sentence how I feel about Elpis Christian Fellowship, but in one word I can! "HOME" - Lindsay Higgins
Elpis is a place of peace, and expectations. A place of release from this world. A place where the Holy Spirit dwells through Word, Praise, Prayer, and Worship!! If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired Elpis is the place where God's presence will over take you and develop you into what He has designed you to be all along. - Jozetta Burrell
I love EVERYTHING about this church! More of a house of worship and a place of restoration and spiritual healing. I have always stated since I've been remember that and everything that I have been through if I had to go through it to get to where I am right now at Elpis, it was all worth it!!
